Ayatul Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 255) is the greatest verse of the Quran, and the four Quls are short surahs every child and adult should know. Read them after salah, in the morning and evening azkar and before sleeping. Below is the Arabic in the Uthmani script, an easy transliteration and the meaning in English and Roman Urdu.
Ayatul Kursi
TransliterationAllāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-ḥayyul-qayyūm, lā ta'khudhuhū sinatun wa lā nawm, lahū mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ, man dhal-ladhī yashfa`u `indahū illā bi-idhnih, ya`lamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭūna bishay'in min `ilmihī illā bimā shā', wasi`a kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-arḍ, wa lā ya'ūduhū ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwal-`aliyyul-`aẓīm.
EnglishAllah: there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. Who could intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they grasp nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and guarding them does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Roman UrduAllah, Us ke siwa koi mabood nahin, woh hamesha zinda hai, sab ko qaim rakhne wala hai. Na use oongh aati hai na neend. Aasmanon aur zameen mein jo kuch hai sab Usi ka hai. Kaun hai jo Us ki ijazat ke baghair Us ke paas sifarish kare? Woh jaanta hai jo logon ke aage hai aur jo un ke peeche hai, aur woh Us ke ilm mein se kisi cheez ka ihata nahin kar sakte magar jitna Woh chahe. Us ki Kursi aasmanon aur zameen par phaili hui hai, aur un ki hifazat Use thakati nahin. Woh buland hai, azmat wala hai.
